Finding the Right Beginner Tattoo Equipment

A lot of people think that simply having good artistic skills is the way to go when it comes to getting into the tattoo art business. Of course one would need a very good level of artistic skills but they also need plenty of experience, preparation and a very good portfolio to build their work upon. The problem with most beginners is that they do not know where to start and may feel overwhelmed by the amount of unpaid work that they will have to do. When beginning a career in tattoo art, one needs to remember that they will not be put on the needles straight away.

The best way to begin is to research beginners tattoo equipment. Believe it or not there lots of beginners tattoo equipment and many of them come in various shapes and sizes. The trouble is which one do you purchase? To start with you will need to find the ones with the basic tools such as a basic tattoo machine which has a liner and a shader. This should contain a powder supply and foot switch, as well as detailed instructions on how to use and clean it.

The next thing these beginner kits need is ink, and a large supply of ink. Some may have 3 different colours, others may have 12. However many your kit contains it is usually best to work with what you have perfecting the art of applying tattoo ink onto skin and making do with the colours. Try to be as creative as possible. Part of being a good tattoo artist is to be creative, use various inspirations from other experienced tattooists and produce your own designs. The ink that you use should be good quality just so they turn out they way you want them to.

The next more important thing is the tattoo needle itself to apply the design. This should be an appropriate needle to use with at least two sets in each machine. This is so you can replace one if needed and keep them well maintained after each usage. With these you should have ink cup holders that gives you easy reach of the ink and you can use at whatever point you need. These are very handy therefore you should make sure these are included in the kit.

Another less obvious thing to have are transfer paper, this will normally help you transfer specific designs onto clients skin, however there will be some practise skins (obviously not real) for beginners to start using if they are not yet confident on using them on real clients. The skins are good for practise and work as a preparation for work on clients that can also be used in your portfolio. It is also a good idea to check if these have design books which are a great way to get started on and gain some ideas from. You can use this to show potential clients for some inspiration so that they can decide on the kind of tattoo they want to have done.

Of course if you as the beginner are in doubt of the tattoo equipment then it may be a good idea to talk to fulltime professionals, do some research on the internet or read up on forums where people are constantly providing advice and information about the industry.
